When I first met with Brianna & Jeff a few months back to talk about their wedding photography, it was one of those meetings that by the end had me feeling like I was hanging out with old friends. We really hit it off, and I could tell they were an awesome couple who’d be so much fun to work with. When it came time to plan their engagement session, we were initially thinking it would be more of a nature themed shoot, incorporating the quickly-changing fall colors. But as the days and weeks passed and we were still kicking dates around, Brianna told me they realized they’d actually like to do a Pittsburgh-themed session instead since Jeff loves those iconic yellow bridges.
So we met downtown one late afternoon on a cold, breezy, gray-skied day that is so classically Pittsburgh. These two were troopers though when it came to braving the cold, coming prepared with multiple layers and even a cozy blanket. We started their downtown Pittsburgh engagement session along Ft. Duquesne Blvd. to be sure to get some of those yellow bridges as a backdrop. As we approached the time of day that would normally be considered “golden hour,” it was obvious that those gray clouds were not going to part even a little bit to give us any beams of golden light. Good thing I always carry a little burst of sunshine in my camera bag ;)
As daytime faded to dusk, we moved along to the North Shore to finish up the session along the riverwalk. Brianna & Jeff ducked into a nearby restaurant to change into their more formal outfits (and to warm up a bit!). The Christmas lights along the North Shore buildings set the perfect backdrop for some nighttime portraits, which are always some of my favorites. And of course, the Pittsburgh skyline showed off it’s twinkling lights for us as we finished up the session.
Here are some highlights of this gorgeous couple making their way around the city! I had such a blast hanging out with you two during your engagement session, and I can’t wait to see what we can create on your wedding day! Enjoy!
