When planning a wedding, there are so many factors to consider regarding seasons, dates, decor, and especially location. When you’re hoping for an outdoor wedding but still want to make sure you have all your bases covered in case the weather is less than ideal, consider a venue that has solid options for both indoor and outdoor spaces. Because when excess rains from a recent tropical storm settled into the WV region, Wilson Lodge was the perfect venue for Courtney & Eric’s Oglebay wedding.
When we arrived, the bride & groom were getting ready next door to each other, along with their respective attendants, in two of Oglebay’s premium cottages. As everyone was putting the finishing touches on their hair, makeup, & wedding day attire, the rain moved into the area, but the staff at Oglebay had already moved the ceremony indoors and were ready for us when we arrived at Wilson Lodge. Courtney & Eric tied the knot in a sweet ceremony in front of all of their family & friends, and despite not being able to step outside for photos, there were plenty of options inside the lodge to create some beautiful portraits before heading into the reception.
Right before the newlyweds were announced into the ballroom, the DJ played a video for the guests of a cute interview they had done with each other prior to the wedding. It was the perfect way to introduce them for the first time as Mr. & Mrs. as they entered the room and got the party started. After a few speeches and a delicious dinner, the dance floor opened and stayed active for the remainder of the evening. Their guests definitely knew how to have a great time!
